Loose Shifter?
My stock Hurst shifter has worked it self loose and has about 1" of play in it when it is in gear. Will it end up fallin off and should I go ahead and replace it with a aftermarket shifter while I have the console off and how hard is the install? Thanks

My hurst shifter is broke. I can pull the stick out of the shifter itself. I want to put a Hurst comp shifter in.

I think I may go with the B&M Ripper.

I have heard good things about it, but I like the old school look of the Hurst comp Shifter in chrome with the white knob.

Have you taken the boot off and looked at it? Mine was loose and it just had loose bolts on my Hurst comp.

I need to check my bolts but I think it is just broke down in the rubber that the shifter is mounted in.

Well not if you like doing things right. You can get at the screws if you push the console all around and pry but its a giant pain and I doubt you will put all the screws back in without the console off the carpet and the console is covering them up and its a pain with the console off sometimes. I've takem mine off 5 different times for different reasons and its not that hard once you get it down.
If you got a 98 and up here is what bolts to unscrew if you don't know.
2 bolts up front left and right side bolt it to the dash.
Inside under the change holder there are two screws that hold the top part of the console on.
Inside there is 3 bolts in back that hold it down
Don't forget the ash tray and ciq lighter wires. I always have to have the emergency brake up as high as I can pull it. to get the console out.
