they're different and not interchangeable.

if your car has traction control(ASR button/switch above radio/below vents),you have 4 channel,if no ASR button/switch it's 3 channel.

4 channel axle
I have a 4 channel axle for $40.00 and $25.00 shipping. no exciter ring with the axle. pleaswe PM me if interested. thx

What is exciter ring ? Do I need it ? Sorry not familiar with that...

the exciter ring is the piece in the above picture in post #5 that looks like a gear that is pressed on the axle. sometimes difficult to press/remove off/on. necessary for 4 channel operation.

exciter ring
the exciter ring should be able to be removed from your existing axle. with heat added, it should come right off. my axle had exciter rings previously and a mechanic shouldn't have any difficulty with all of the installations.
