    Buying 97 Z28

    I am wondering what HP I should exspect out this camaro I am buying. It has been bored 30over but not sure of what pistons and it has LT4 heads intake and hot cam. LT's with flowmaster exhaust bbk 58mm tb and it is a M6 car. Any ifo would be helpful. Thank

    Assuming it's tuned for that cam and other parts, and the heads aren't ported, maybe 330-340 at the rear wheels.

    heads are stock lt4. would porting them help anything without upgrading cam?

    Proper porting will almost always enhance an engine's airflow. This assumes it has the ability to pull more air in and expel more spent gases out the back while adding the correct amount of fuel.

    As jeff said, almost always. That being said, with the LT4 hotcam, you might only gain 20-25rwhp by porting the LT4 heads. That would only barely be feelable, seat of the pants, and not worth tearing the motor apart and the money spent in my opinion.

    Porting heads is a significant investment in time, labor and $$. With any modification that you wish to undertake, you seriously have to consider and balance those three items with the results that you will achieve. If the springs and such have already been upgraded then porting alone may be an option. However, if that is all stock and approaching 20 years old, your better investment may simply be a new set of heads once you do the math.
