1947 Dodge Ratrod 5.3 LS Swap
Greetings Everyone,
First off want to say Thanks to this site for the Wealth of Information at my fingertips.
I've been Enjoying my Lumina and soon will be sharing the Turbo Mod it's getting.
At the end of Last year I picked up a '47 Dodge for $700.00 well I got the Body minus about Everything else.
Last Year I swapped a 5.3 into a 95 S10 and Sold it, and Missed it so I knew the drivetrain I wanted, and already had a Tune developed that worked great. What we have is the Dodge Body on a 96 S10 Chassis, 3 Inch front Drop and 4 Inch Rear. I've got a little over 1000 miles on it and Average between 25-29mpg depending on how I drive. It's a Ratrod for now but the Inside has Envoy Heated/Lumbar/Power seats, and is finished nicely. Who knows what the future holds, it could be taken to the Next Level but for now it's a Blast just cruising....

That is one sexy truck.......
I've always wanted something like this. So you used a frame from a S10 and mate it to the 47?

Correct, the motor mounts and Headers are readily available for the S10 Chassis. I chose the shortest wheelbase frame, running a M30 tranny behind the 5.3
The rear ends from the S10's can be rebuilt using the posi gears out of a donor 93-02 F-Body.
I did my own Harness and saved some $$$.$$
Motors a junkyard special from 05 2wd GMC with around 115,000 got the complete motor, harness. ECM, and all pumps for $450.00 and heard it run before buying.
Frame was $300, rebuilding all suspension about $850.00
Was supposed to be a budget build but I got carried away as usual.

The cab sits on four mounts, the bed sits on 6 mounts, and the nose sits on two mounts.
Some fab work was done to be able to attach the front end but not very hard to do.
The bed was shortened 13" to fit the wheelbase.
