Bronze- 1935 Buick (Street Rod)
1999 Pontiac LS1 engine in street rod won't start
I have a '35 Buick with a 1999 Pontiac LS1 engine & trans. that from to time won't crank. Turns over but won't start. There is no code set in PCM. Where to start?

Does it have fuel or spark when it cranks?

It has fuel, 55psi. It has happened a couple of times before. 1st time no spark, this time is similar. I have checked that no PCM codes were set but cleared PCM anyway, but still won't start. Have disconnected battery for 15-20 mins, hoping to clear memory in PCM, still won't crank.

Gott check that spark before you go any further....

I take it you are running a stock PCM? I'd also verify that it is a non-spark issue and then start with grounds and relays. You can also inspect the connectors as the pins will occasionally get bent and not make contact.

Wow, didn't think anybody was watching. I found my problem in the Feb. / Mar. time frame. Turned out to be cracked fuse holder separate from the main fuse panel. Replaced this and all is well. Thanks for the reply.

Good to hear. I did not check the date on your original post. Sounds like a fun ride!

Thanks for the help. Yes it is a fun ride. I've had it about three years and won 25 theories so far. It's nice to always crank.

I've got a couple of '66 Buicks tucked away in my project stash, and an '87 Turbo Regal. I do like the Buicks. :yep:
