I don't recognize it and I just put my engine back in. Can you post some other views of it.

That looks like one of the sensors that I had to remove off my 4l60e when removing both my engine and transmission. I'll have to double check tonight but if it is it goes on the passenger side.

I just went and looked at the pics from my transmission swap and it doesn't seem to match up with anything I saw on ours.

Ok, check out the second pic in this thread, the component circled in yellow: http://www.ls1.com/forums/f6/seconda...emoval-130641/
It may be the vacuum solenoid for the secondary air system. I pulled mine off the car back in 2010 and it is probably in a box down in the lower garage.

I will simply note that a "2002 Chevrolet Camaro" does not have an EGR valve... probably just mislabled on the linked site.

Really looks like a purge valve. For the emission system, to purge the charcoal canister of gasoline vapors. Or the solenoid for the secondary air. Not needed if you are not in an emissions state or strictly run the car at the drag strip.

Very strange. I don't disagree that the 2002 Camaro does not have an EGR, however way to many auto part web sites identify this part on another brand of the same as fitting the 2002 Camaro 5.7L.
OP any chance you aren't changing the engine with an exact match? Perhaps an engine from another year or model?
