Sounds like a bent shifter fork possibly, a common problem on the T56. If it's only sticking in 4th, that'd be my guess. You could just have the fork replaced, but I'd recommend upgrading to a stage 2 or 3. This will upgrade the synchros and shifter fork, along with some other componants. It will make the tranny much more durable. If other gears stick as well, I'd look into the clutch hydraulics.

When my M6 got stuck in 4th after a hard shift it was the synchronizer key that was broke.

Has anyone heard of this company? The gear box transmission
They have a stage 2 t56 rebuild kit (parts only) for $635.

I've seen them online before. Don't know anyone who has used them though.

It was passed to me by a friend that had his t56 rebuilt using their parts and a local shop to do the work.

I've used them. I shipped them my tranny and had them do a stage 4 rebuild. It was a while ago, but I've never had an issue with the tranny since.

Most reputable tranny places will have 2 levels. The big difference between them is usually the output shaft upgrade.
