yeah i am having a prob with my alt too, they said it had no reading. I heard a lot about keeping it clean as often as possible and the powersteering is usually the culprit. joshiedoom says the job should be easy but i'm still waiting on the damn thing, goddamn ebay

RED- 2002 FORMULA
I just had to replace altenator in my van. List was 299. I found 5 or 6 altenator rebuild shops in my area. Cost was around 60-75 to rebuild the one I had. Several years ago I had the last year of the Feiro. I belive is was a 87 or 88. Went to a rebuild shop, they cracked the case and replaced 2 small brushes, that was it. Might be alot more now, but then just 2 brushes. Cost 18. for a "rebuild".

i have the same problem... my power steering was leaking at the input shaft... PS fluid blew all over my alternator and fried it... i'm lucky it didn't start a fire... if you're ordering a new PS rack make sure you get your suspension code off the driver side door sticker...

get a stock ac delco one...no need for anything fancy. but you can also get the 150amp ones for the silverado ..and take off the black backing and swap them. however 105amp is fine

My alternator is being replaced now. I was shown the voltmeter demonstration. Unfortunately, I don't own one, or I would have checked it before. The first sign the car gave me was the Check Gauges light, and things went downhill very quickly.

Did you really pay someone to replace your altenator? 2 10 MM bolts and 2 wires...... Anyway, if your friend can get it for 80 bucks jump on it.
