I started playing around the DFCO (Decel Fuel Cut Off) settings to make it come on a little more often and see if it'll give me a MPG boost. I'm also thinking about running open loop and leaning out the cruise areas for better mileage. It seems to correct back to stoich when I make changes and run closed loop.

Those two things give me the biggest mpg gains. DFCO wasn't even working on my wifes car, the rpm activation rpm was never reached during normal cruise.

I keep it in open loop and command the AFR I want in the light throttle cruise areas. Had my wife car this way for a couple years now.

yah, the stock DFCO settings were nearly worthless on my truck too. I lowered the rpm (so it'll come on when I'm above that), raised the MAP sensor enable (so it'll come on sooner), and messed around with the spark enable and mulitpliers (again so it'll get into DFCO sooner). I can feel it working now. I let off the throttle at 70mph...it coasts for a second or so...then the fuel shuts off and it feels like its engine braking. I'm gonna play with it some more.

Mine does that at about the same speeds, but then seems to quickly stop with the engine braking "feel"...in other words, it goes into, but right out of DFCO, so I need to do some tweaking too.

Exactly, you can feel it kick on and really slow the car/truck down. It's great around the mountain terrain where I live, it kicks on alot.

That sounds like the off RPM's probably need some tweaking so it stays on longer. I set mine as low as I can go without stalling when coming to a complete stop. I think I have my "off" rpm at 1100.

If you get too low the engine will struggle to maintain idle or die because the fuel is still cutoff, especially if you have a cam in it. Just have to play with it till you find what works for yours.

Yessir, mine was a bit high....1600 entry/1000 exit, so I lowered it to 1000/800 to try out.

I just installed new heads, cam, LT headers, TBSS intake on my ?02 Silverado LS. Has factory 3.73 gears. I bought an HP tuner with 2 credits, now have to pay for a training class to unlock ?read only? columns to get deep into tuning. Once I get the AEM wide and installed I will take the class and let you know how it goes. Just be aware buying the tuner and credits only gets you base level access to start tuning with.

This thread is older than me, but you do not need to take any classes to be able to unlock anything or be allowed to tune your truck or car. If the vehicle calls for 2 credits, then using those 2 credits will get you a new "application key" and let you "tune" an unlimited amount of times.

Yeah, it is an old one. I posted to make folks aware. Apparently something has changed at HP. I have the credits and the key, but most of the in depth parameters are read only, and I got a message saying I need to take a class to unlock them?just sayin

That's odd. I literally did a mild tune on my neighbor's truck less than a week ago. Downloaded stock tune, bought 2 credits, got my new app key, modified tune, and reflashed. No issues and nothing looking different than before. I'll have to look around on their forum when I get some free time.

Were you able to open the full Idle, Airflow and VE tabs?

I ask bc I did a full H/C/I/HDR swap, and cannot go deep into massaging the ratios. Keep getting the message to take the tuning course.

Yessir. I will try to get a couple screenshots when I get home.

If you want, I can PM you my email address, and you can send me a copy of your tune. Then we can confirm I am seeing same info as you are.

I actually have unlimited credits for 2002 Chevy/GMC trucks. When I got my HPTUNERS 15 or so years ago, it was a serial cable, Version 1.xx, and it came with FOUR unlimited model years, which was pretty awesome!
