    Gen V LT1 Yukon Carnage

So I fell victim to the dreaded Gen V AFM/DOD lifter failure or the 2014-18 valve spring failure that GM seems to love to give but not fix.

    Lifter bore

Found this in the oil pan

Why did they design the oil drain higher then the bottom of the pan?

    #5 cylinder intake lifter

Only rod bearing that had debris hit it

All the mains had debris go thru also

And the lucky #5 cylinder intake valve spring

Block, crank, rods and heads are dropped off at machine shop. The lifter bore is getting sleeved, all are getting looked at to make sure no other damage.

Shop informed me that all gm v8's from 2014-2018 are having valve spring issues, bad batch or something. He pointed out 4-5 more springs he felt they were about to let go just by how they looked. They were not seated right, looked like they were leaning to one side.

So the plan is AFM/DOD delete with new cam and valve springs, refresh the internals like timing chain, oil pump etc, new bearings all around, refresh the heads. Will update as it goes.
