LS9 Sodium Exhaust Valve Info
As a preface, here's what I know:
They're either 4.900in or 4.911in long. The valve stem has a diameter of 8mm. The head is 3.59in in diameter. It's sodium cooled.
Things I would like to know:
How far down from the top of the stem does the sodium chamber begin? Does the valve stem have a stellite or other kind of chromed coating? Is the sodium only in the center of the valve head, or does it go further out?
I'm interested in adapting the valve for use in an engine with a 10% smaller valve seat and requires a slightly shorter stem (5mm shorter), so I'm wondering how much can be ground off it before it poses an issue to the integrity of the vital components.
Thank you.Last edited by Smorgesborg; 07-17-2024 at 06:12 PM. Reason: clarifying some stuff
