Is it very difficult to separate them? I would rather not tape the injector holes if I don't have to. Separating them would keep overspray away. Do you recommend separating them or just taping off the injector holes before painting?

Yes. it is bolted together and has a gasket seal. when you put back together use blue locktite on the nuts so they don't vibrate off per FAST.

I didn't bother taping off injector holes. use some WD40 or light oil on o rings and it inserts easy

    Don,

Have you fitted the 102 yet?

You'll need to clearance the water pump in order for the 102 throttle body to sit flat.

My bad Scott. I thought you were referring to the stock intake, not the FAST 102. Sorry dude. But I appreciate the good advice as always!

You can also paint the stock intakes too. I did that one too. Hated the fade black it had, so I painted it High Gloss Black too.

Use adhesive promoter as well as a good quality paint. I used Duplacolor for single color coats and clear.

Well, just tonight I taped my intake off to do just that! I plan on painting it gloss black after sanding off the 3 round circles on each runner with 180grit, then 300grit, then 600. Adhesion promoter comes after the sanding, correct? Or after the primer? Then topping it off with a couple coats of clear with some wet sanding inbetween. Want her slick as glass...!! Thanks man~!

    After sanding..

this is how I did mine.

wipe down all with degreaser and cleaner for paint prep with non lint towels.

spray adhesive promoter according to directions

primer, 2 med coats, 2 light coats. sand if needed. if you sand wipe again with cleaner.

paint, 2 med coats, 2 light coats. wet sand if needed, clean again.

clear coat, 3 med coats, 2 light coats.

Awesome information. I soaked the intake in 1:1 strength Simple Green and Super Clean for several days, then soaked it in water to get all the degreaser off, shaking it every now and then. Amazing how clean it looks inside and out! What paint prep cleaner are you referring to? Brake Cleaner? Alcohol? And I assume you are referring to micro fiber towels? Thanks!
