    Nitto NT05 & NT05R

Well the trans am is ready for new tires, I have been shopping around and I think I am going to go with the Nitto NT05s up front and the NT05Rs in the rear. My question is, anyone have any experince with these tires? So far everything I have been reading has been good, just looking for your opinions. Thanks.

i had the 05r's on my old ss and LOVED THEM i have 0 complaints other then the tread life but all drag radials are quick to go if you daily them. on the street i could launch on motor after a burn out and hook great now on bottle was a totally different story unless i was at the track then it still dead hooked spraying a 150 out of the hole

oh almost forgot dont drive your car in the rain with them, there not what i would consider safe at highway speeds on wet pavement

my best time was cut with a 1.8 but had a few in there that were mid 1.7's just didnt make it down the track as fast for some reason. one thing to add to is i didnt purge the system before i staged so it was more of a progressive shot that was a little rich at first and im sure that would make a big difference as far as tires dead hooking.

hell look at my fb vids john theres a few of them with me racing with those tires on the street against a 08 g8 on a 150 and i barely spun

I have the Nitto 555r Drag Radials now and I dead hook on the street with my set-up once I'm rolling in first, even with 4.11 gears. They suck at the track though. 1.906 was my best 60'. Haven't tried yet with the Procharger, but it's got to be worse.

I've been contiplating these or a M/T that's why I was curious. I'd like around a 1.6 60'. Probably going to need more of a slick for that though.

My Nittos will be for the street only. I have my Prostars on with the M/T for the track. Best 60ft I cut with them was a 1.58 and it was spinning a bit. On the street with the Mickeys it will spin at about a 20mph roll after that it hooks. Street tires it spins at 45mph roll, so I'm hoping the nittios will get me to hook better on the street.

i love the mt's too but dont have any personal experience with them. and the 555r's tend to get hard when you drive them on the street for a long period of time which is why there not so good at the track as they would have been when there brand new

I will be driving it down. I thought about throwing the prostars on and trailering it but that's to much of a PITA.

shipping update: tires are on truck out for delivery.

I just mounted the tires about 2 hours ago. Took the car for a short ride, I'm pretty impressed with the traction! From a 20mph roll it hooked and took off, tried it from a 10mph roll and it spun but no where near as bad as the street tires. The car rode really nice and took the curves better than expected with a DR in the back. So far I am really liking the Nittos.

Spent an hour or so detailing the undercarriage
