So let me get this right PP is the best oil for LS1's and RP is not so good? What do you think about Mobil-1 , also what is the best oil filter (Mobil-1 , K&N , AC Delco FRAM) there is too many to choose from.

pp is the best oil for the money .....fram filters suck balls....anything else is avg and up....mobil 1 is no better than PP and costs 2 dollars more a quart...answer your questions? if u wanna know if RP is better than PP ask sarge ....RP is likely better but costs 3 dollars more a quart ....comes down to this......dont use fram...use PP and change your oil every 3k miles ....do that religously and enjoy beating the shit out of that ls1 for many many more miles!!!!

I'm astonished the PP is even a canidate... Who would ever thought...
but oil analysis show that our LS1 motors are happy with PP.

I wish GC was more readily available as it's supposed to be
good oil for our LS1 as well.

i dont understand why people say to put 5.5 quarts into the 5.7 liter engine, when if you do the conversion 5.7 liters is actually like 6.02 quarts

The displacement of the engine as far as I know has little (nothing) to do with the amount of oil needed.

If you are filling your cylinders with oil, 6.02 quarts is correct. Unfortunately, your engine will not run.

[QUOTE=Too Fast;1343873]Now this is all great info. I have been using Valvoline synthetic, how does that stack up? [QUOTE]
I'm curious too. I've run Valvoline Syntec since day 1 in the SSand Wix or delco filters.
No Pennzoil for me,just can't do it.

just to go a little further on this if you dont get it: 5.7 liters is the volume of your cylinders, as in how much air and fuel mixture it will hold. the 5.5 quarts is how much oil goes into the pan at the bottom of the motor, which gets pumped around the engine outside of the cylinders. thats over simplified but maybe that helps.

Thanks Sarge, ever since I started using PP 10-30 the results just keep getting better. Right now I am running Valvoline Synpower in my wife's car. I will post the results. I may try Quaker State Advanced Synthetic too.
