sarge is it better to use 5w-30 or 10W-30? I know the manual says 5w-30 and thats what i have been using, bu tthinking that higher vis. would be better for my engine.

They are both the same viscosity at operating temps and very little difference when cold......I like the 10-30 because it is more shear stable and less VII's to deal with in the chemistry.

    So...

Are we saying that PP 10w30 is the best oil to use in an LS1? For a car with DD duty? I'm currently running RP 5w30. Just looking over the forums to find the best fluids for my engine, tranny, and rear.

I'm running GC in my daughters G6. I have no issues with it...just a PITA to find....and nothing spectacular with the UOA's. OK...its green....LOL....PP returns the same if not better results for less money and is easy to get.

No.....Pay the $10 bucks for the 6 month preferred customer membership and get dealer pricing makes Amsoil a bargain IMHO.

Is that with 5w30 or 10w30 PP . It would appear that the GC would be a bit advantagous in colder climates seeing as how its 0w30.

I see them as equals as far as the return in UOA's. I get a little lower wear metals with PP but only run it 300 miles due the fuel dilution from running a monster cam. Amsoil I can go longer ( mebbe 500 miles) as the add packs/base oil handles the fuel dilution better. I do see Amsoil as a better overall product. But when you look at a 5quart jug of PP at WalMart for $19.99 ( yesterday) or ordering Amsoil and paying shipping....PP is tough to beat man......

    Auto RX Cleansing Results

These are my Auto RX cleansing results. I had a Dyson Analysis done on my Camaro. That report looks pretty scary. However, Terry Dyson explained all of it to me. The guy is awesome, unfortunately I cannot share his insights with you.
The wifemobile was pretty straightforward. However, I am seeing titanium in her oil for the very first time. There are no modifications to this motor. I am told titanium is a harbinger of serious problems. It could be time for a new wifemobile.
    The Camaro had PP 5-30.
The MonteCarlo had Kendall GT-1 5-30
    Will post again after rinsing!

Now look at the bottom. The flash point reflects the Royal Purple sheared out of grade to a 30 weight. Didnt hold up and the wear metals sucked.
Hey Sarge! I'm a little confused with some of these readings....what's your standing as far a Royal Purple?

For me (and I'm not claiming to possess anywhere near Sarge's oil expertise), one word sums up my standing regarding Royal Purple -- Disappointed.

Results ( not just mine) reflect a middle of the road oil priced as a top tiered oil.

Now this is all great info. Too Fast needs an oil change, I have been using Valvoline synthetic, how does that stack up? I think I am going to Wally world and getting some PP for this change. (and a Fram oil filter LOL! Not!)
