Best way for interior clean?

Hey guys:

I'm gonna buy a heavily-used Trans Am that's probably gonna need a very thorough cleaning - steam carpet cleaning and good washing of the leather seats. The car is a 1999 by the way.

Anyway, what's the best way for the cleaning? Should I take it to a carpet cleaner - the truck-mounted home carpet cleaning people - and have them steam clean the interior?

How can I clean the seats? I don't like Armour All because it makes everything too slippery.

Advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

For the seats, I used Tuff Stuff on some seats I bought off of ebay from a wrecked CETA. The seats were heavily soiled but using Tuff Stuff got them looking brand new.
You can find Tuff Stuff in the automotive section of WalMart or any auto store, I imagine.

Once you have them cleaned you could use Eagle Nano Protectant on it. I love the stuff. Cleans and protects vinyl, leather and plastic. Plus it doesn't leave it all greasy.

For the carpet, I would definitely remove the seats (pretty easy, handful of bolts and disconnect some wires and their out) and clean every little bit with a steam cleaner if you have access to one. You could also buy some carpet cleaner then just follow the directions, use a scrub brush and then a shop vac for cleanup.

After its clean set a box of Arm&Hammer baking soda or buy some Damp Rid to soak up any remaining moisture/smells in the car.

It was a lot easier for me to clean the carpet and seats once I pulled the seats out. Just four bolts and it gives you more room to work.
I just took some carpet cleaner to mine but mine wasn't that bad. And make sure you test it first, to make sure it won't ruin your carpet.

+1 for using tuff stuff. Its cheap and works great. It doesnt fade anything and leaves a clean smell.

I have used Tuff Stuff for over 20 years , used some today in fact on my seats and trim, the best all purpose car spray cleaner, period.
