However, if you have GU4, you have open 3.08's and will run considerably slower, 15.6-15.8ish if your a good driver. If you have 3.08's like I have in my bird, I'd advise that you swap out your gears and get an LSD before you try a converter. That way you get your power to both wheels, with much better traction. However, if you have 3.42's you're set.
I have GU6 too However, I didn't begin with dual outlet exhaust either, I upgraded to it. I don't know about the steering ratio or anything else though.

So which gears for our cars will give us the best acceleration and top end? I'd like the one close to the middle of the two but slightly more on the accelaration side.

hmmm, 3.42 LSD, I would be hitting the exhaust shop for a low restriction setup. From the stories I have read, it seems a 15.8 for 3.08, 15.5 1/4 is very common for 3.23 owners and 15.1 for 3.42 owners both with M5 transmissions. A4's usually run about .3 slower stock. Just my 2 cents of info. -Tim

thanks man! mine is auto, I'd love to make my engine strong and some how some way turn it into an Manual 6speed. Is that possible to put a built 6spd on 3.8?

Oh, yea I'm pretty good with manual, this is why I want to go this way. My girl has an '00 stang GT 5spd and I've had the jump on a vette 6spd on take off a couple times, but then they usually just ball off and leave my ass I still need more practice though.

I was considering a T-56 swap myself, but I dont see the benefit of 6th gear as it would take your car 1500RPM at 65mph. A 99+ Worldclass T-5 is almost bulletproof due to brass syncronizers, and it bolts right up. I just dont need that tall of a gear for my car, so I ruled out a T-56. I can give pointers and suggestions to help improve performance and numbers. The Secret is gettign the power to the wheels, and that requires a great clutch and hydralics.-Tim

If you like a manual better. Best thing is to find a T-5 out of a 2000 or newer F-Body at a salvage yard. Partially for lower miles, and secondly for the worldclass setup.

It will be a direct bolt up. You will have to have the PCM programmed *sound familiar?*
    for a manual transmission.
you can probably get the pedal and linkage from the same car along with the hydralics components.
Not as expensive as have the A4 built. -Tim

how much would you expect to pay for the 5spd and installation and reprogram?
