    Question stock quarter mile times?...

I have a 2000 Firebird and want to find out what it can do in the 1/4 mile stock. I've searched all over the web and only come up with V8 results.

What I want to do is be able to eventually keep up my friends 2004 WRX thats supposed to do it in 14.4 stock. I know its a bit far from that but I plan on doing more mods and what to see around how close I am to start.

SO does anyone know stock 1/4 mile times for the 2000 V6 3.8 firebird??

from what i understand (limited) of the 3.8 -- its supposed to run from a 15.8 to a 15.2 stock. depending on options installed (weight...like A/C, power stuff)...

you are gonna have to do a couple of mods to make it run with a WRX. headers / exhaust / intake come to mind. maybe some gears or if you have a auto you can do a better torque converter... posi if you dont have it will help a little.

What gears you have in your car greatly affect roughly about what times you'd run. Is your car auto or manual?

Check your door codes. If you have a GU6 option, you have 3.42's with a limited slip differential and, depending on your driving, you should be able to pull off low 15 sec times. 15.2 sounds about right. However, if you have GU4, you have open 3.08's and will run considerably slower, 15.6-15.8ish if your a good driver. If you have 3.08's like I have in my bird, I'd advise that you swap out your gears and get an LSD before you try a converter. That way you get your power to both wheels, with much better traction. However, if you have 3.42's you're set.

That means your car is equipped with the v6 performance package. That gives you a better steering ratio, dual outlet exhaust, and 3.42 gears with a limited slip. I'd say, start modding you've got a good start already.

but wouldn't that mean i should have w68 appearance package too? Also... before I put on the Magnaflow I had single outlet exhaust

Nope, the performance package is a Y87 package. The W68 package was just an appearance package. They are both seperate options. And I'm not sure why you have single outlet exhaust, perhaps the previous owner? The only way you can get those gears was with the Y87 package on the 6.

Nope, you just have to get the set of gears that you want and buy a limited slip differential, like an auburn, or zexel torsion. Of course lots of people just swap out the entire rear end from a Z or TA to get disc brakes as well.

    Just a little insight

I had a 98 v6 camaro and I did a lot of mods. I had an intake, cold air mod, bellow, headers, no cats, 3 inch exhaust custom, all lower control arms, strut tower brace, panhard rod. 275/45/17 all the way around, 4:10 gears with an aburn posi out of an SS, Electronic spark booster and 75 shot of Nos. With all of this I was able to keep up with Stock Z28's. There is fun to be had with a 6 but you will always want to go faster after you get a taste. And all that means is V8.

I have an LS1 look on my Camaro, but I'm planning on doing suspension mods and saving the rest of the performance cash on LS1. I do know of a few FAST 3800's though. I know of one hitting like 10's. I can hardly believe it!

10's? I've heard of 3.8 fbodies in the 11's, not in the 10's though, that's impressive! Wow.

That would be viper.... he has the rwhp and rwtq... and his combo is very impressive... but no good times!

    See sig

Look into LSD and a converter.

That will really wake the car up.... then little things such as intake/ exhaust
