some people like to turn the noise off. If you install a cut out (especially an electric cutout) its pretty simple to go from load to quiet. Best of both worlds for some people. I personally dont care for them. my friend has mac longtubes and no cats, and with his electric cutout open it still isnt very load. I think a lot of exhaust still runs out the back.

not the new one, but if you have the money just get true duals on it, it is the best sound out there. expect to pay about 700-1,000 for it though

(duals) one of my good friends has em on his 99 SS. He has a Yank 4000 stall, and when you are driving around town, it is killer riding inside of the car (as in a big headache), but they sound great from the outside. I just want something to go all the way out the back.

I have SLP long tube headers with a Magnaflow cat-back and I'm just not happy with the way it sounds. Way to quiet and not a very deep sound. I love the way an LT-1 car sounds with Borla but I'm told that the LS-1 sounds totally different. Any suggestions to make the car sound deeper & louder?

Pewter Metallic- 2002 Firebird Formula
I got the Magnaflow catback system specifically because it's quieter than most systems. You get a nice growl when you start the car, but then it idles with a nice relatively-quiet rumble that won't rattle the neighbors' windows.
It's really nice for freeway driving because you don't have that constant drone in your ear that you get on louder systems.
Despite all that, it DOES get nice and loud when you drop the hammer or rev the engine, though. I think it's a great balance between quiet and noisy.
