EGR question

Hello all,

I recently pulled my car out of storage and was getting ready to do the state emissions test (illinois). The car has the current mods, BBK shorty headers with a possibly stock y-pipe (i dont know how to tell), fast 102 intake and throttle body, fast fuel rails and maybe injectors, and a horrible K&N intake. I was looking over the car and it seems I am missing the EGR valve. I have read online somewhere that 01s do not use a EGR valve. I just wanted to verify this before I commit to buying a set of stock headers with the provision for them cause my BBKs do not. I apologize for the dumb question, but I really want to get this car back on the road, even if I have to buy stock headers.

Pretty sure that is correct. 01 and 02 did not have an EGR. No emissions in Indiana, lucky me. I have an aftermarket LS6 intake, has a provision for an EGR valve, but I removed it. My wiring going to the valve is taped up and one really has to look hard to find the EGR wiring connector.

Your Y-pipe? Look at it and see if it looks lower than it should be, and kinda smashed into an oval and not round. That is an original Y-pipe if so. My ORY pipe is 3", round, and tucks higher than the stock smashed-looking one.

Shorty headers add like 1 HP, the OE manifolds were so good. Long tubes, those can gain 15 maybe 20.
