Running E85 on a 2009 GMC sierra 4.8

I'm curious If I can run E85 in my 2009 GMC Sierra 4.8. In HP Tuners Its got a section for flex fuel and looks like its running a virtual sensor. I do plan to put in an actual sensor once the turbo is complete.

Personally, I wouldn't run E85, too many fuel and engine problems. For E85's out there, The virtual Flex fuel sensor temporally closes the canister purge valve for a few seconds and monitors info from the fuel system to calculate the ethanol content. This system has to then make adjustments according to what is in the tank in order that the correct fuel consumption and level for the algorithm that is used for the PCM and ECM. When you make short trips and are going from E85 to 87, 89, or whatever you run, your system is constantly monitoring and making changes to compensate for fuel mixtures. Just like anything, the more changes from one to the other, the faster the breakdown of internal components there will be.

FYI make sure you check NHST for any recalls on this vehicle- 21V052000 the air bag's frontal passenger-side inflator module may need to be replaced.

As always, check your owner's manual for what your vehicle is rated for.
