Tuesday greetings. You can send some rain in our direction. Drought notices are starting to be issued - I have not seen our rivers and lakes this low in a long time.

Our Fall or even Early Winter has showed up early this year. Usually it shows up around mid November. Temps this week in the low 80's to mid 70's

In the midst of a semi-major on the Suburban. We just got it back from the body shop where they replaced the rockers, lower passenger doors and patched in the quarter panels. Now it is getting trans fluid and filter and replacing the front struts and lower ball joints. Had to completely remove the axle shafts and lower control arms. Despite starting its life in "salt the hell out of the roads" New York, and being 13 years old, things came apart remarkably well. Air impact gun FTW. It goes in for an alignment on Wednesday with new tires to follow soon. We love our 'Burb.

Replaced both lower ball joints as well. Upper joints seemed fine and are easy to do, whereas the lowers are a bit more work. Unfortunately, they don't leave any lip on the control arm around the lower ball joints so I ended up using a BFH, rather than my press, to remove them. The stock joints are crimped and had to be chiseled before removal.

All went well with the entire project until the very end. Went to install the new strut tower nuts -- which are a crimp style nut. Even with anti-seize it felt like they were running on too tight. Sure enough, the second nut on the passenger side ran down about a half inch and then stripped the threads. I ended up splitting it with my die grinder and then ran my thread repair die down the stud. I cleaned up and then re-installed the factory nuts after that fiasco.

I press them out all the time in car if aluminum arms and BFH them out in car with a hammer also in car with no troubles. I'm not a fancy pants Esq. though
