    My brother called one of his friends in the military surplus world and discussed the bypassed oil filter with him. Apparently, some guys did this to increase the engine's oil pressure and he recommended that if I hook the filter back up that I shim the oil pressure relief spring a bit. I will have to ponder this a bit. Right now the gauge does not work so I have no idea what the oil pressure is.

    Nice....although those road course races never did it for me. Bristol is more my speed. Great race to go to also.

    Oil has this thing where it likes to be filtered. I would do whatever it took to get a functioning filter on there. Bypassing it seems like the worst band aid fix in the world.

    Absolutely agree. Tried every trick I know to extract the plug in the oil galley where the feed line connects and failed. There are two additional ports in that galley that I can attempt to access. I will simply have to run a short piece of steel line to connect the hose. I bolted the oil pan back on this morning and will begin to tackle the cooling system this evening. One of the brackets for the oil filter canister is waffled and will need some attention with a BFH before I can install that.

    AHHH Bristol the knife fight in a phone booth, never been there but on the bucket list. Been to Daytona a million times (lived in fla.) Charlotte a bunch my brother lives 5mins. from the track, its pretty bad ass now though got that 4 lane NHRA drag track and the dirt track for the outlaws a must see trip for who's still into it.
