Looking at going turbo
I'm thinking about doing a huron speed turbo kit. truck manifolds etc. Wondering if anyone has the kit. Likes dislikes... etc.
Also at what point do you forge everything in the motor. looking at just doing a low boost set-up. Obviously dont want motor issues. Just trying to figure out what I can get away with safely.

Once you get much past 500 rwhp, that's when I'd start going inside the engine and forge it. Low boost? Just keep it under 9 psi(intercooled) or so....but you could probably boost a little more with a methanol injection system.

Iron blocks can hold more boost over aluminum. 7-9lbs is what I see with the aluminum blocks. We have a local guy runing a turbo on a 5.3 putting some serious numbers on stock bottom end, 317 heads and truck manifolds. Just don't skimp out on the oil feed/return lines for the turbo. He had one blow on a hard pull and toasted the engine.
