Metallic Navy Blue- 1998 Firebird Formula
Want a wider tire for my C6 rims, I need some advice!
I am getting ready to replace the tires on my C6 corvette rims that I have on my 98 Fromula. I am currently running 245/40/18 on all 4 rims and they are 18x8.5 inch rims without spacers. I just think that the tires look too narrow on my car and would like to run something wider. I read some other threads and realize that tires vary in width but I'm just curious what those of you who are running the same rims or tire size bumped up to? Also if I should be running spacers since I believe the corvette rims actually sit in closer (offset) than the stock rims did.
If anyone has this same combo on their F-Body please let me know what size your are running or what size I can run that is wider than a 245,
Thanks!

i would say a 275 series tire but im not totally sure if that will fit on a 8.5" wheel bu then again i have 335's on a 10.5" wheel and they work just fine

Yah 275 seems to be the size that everyone has been recommending for my rim size. I kinda wish I had gotten a wider rim so that I could run some nice fat rubber but I cant complain, I picked up my set of C6 rims for $200 from someone who worked at GM!

The 275s might bulge a little bit, but you should be OK. It also depends on what brand tire you are running as well.

I plan on running a set of Nitto 555 Extreme Performance tires, I have done alot of research and everyone seems to LOVE these tires and they are a decent price. I own a set of Nitto drag radials and love them too. I'm not sure how wide the tire is, I guess I will have to look that up but even knowing that I wont know if it will rub or not seeing as I dont know how much room I have to work with or how to find that out???
Man I wish someone out there had these same exact rims and already went through this so I could know exactly what size I could safely run!! I would hate to buy them then run into some rubbing or something!!

where did the wheels come from or do you know the offset. I can almost assure you that you wheels wont run at all assuming the offset is nothing crazy. 275 was the stock size for WS6 and SS

The Nittos should fit as they are slightly narrower. I held my 275/35-18 Nittos next to my old BFG G-Force Sports and the Nittos were slightly narrower as the treadblocks on the Nittos are rounder than the BFGs.
