I was thinking about making a C-channel cover for the frame rails and mounting the coils under it so all you would see is the wires going to the plugs

I still haven't had time to check out the relocation kits that were referenced earlier. Not sure if that would work on an F-body with the heater hose setup -- but with your fabrication skills anything is possible.

On the wire hide mod, I did do something a bit different than the sticky. Rather than utilize velcro to secure the wire run, I installed three (3) plastic plugs that have an open slot through the top of the wheel house. I was then able to insert a zip tie through the slot and cinch the wiring up tight to the underside of the wheel house.

The plugs I utilized are Dorman P/N 45470 of their Body-Tite line of products. They are labeled for use on Nissan & Toyota, but worked perfectly. To see the plug, simply enter the P/N at http://www.dormanproducts.com. The direct link I tried to post would not work. I found these on the racks at our local Advance Auto Parts.

It does help having a black car as the plugs blend in well. I also plugged the remaining holes left from relocating the ground wire and cruise module with a standard smooth head body fastener. I really like the clean look:

Thank you. The cables and wire harness have bothered me since we bought the car. Moving them, deleting the secondary air, and ditching the helmholtz resonator have really cleaned up the look of the engine bay. I considered moving the hood release cable as well, but that doesn't stand out so much.

i have the thunder racing kit on my camaro. it's works good but i wouldn't do it again. there is a company that makes valve covers that actually cover the coils and you just see the wires going to the spark plug. it looks so clean and makes your valve covers look like the tall ones.

I saw a set of aluminum LS1 covers in the most recent Jeg's. Looks like they work exactly as you described in your post. So far, I do not believe anyone has put up pics of covers like that in the "post your engine bay" thread. Wouldn't mind seeing a set installed up close.

Swapping in longer wires.

Looks good Jeff. Wish I could do this to mine but lack the motivation. All you gotta do now is ditch the whole AC system. I knew a guy who had done the wire mod, no cruise control, coil pack relocation and AC delete. Looked pretty cool, just like an empty engine bay with an ls1 in it.

I would have to look back at the start of this thread, but I believe I did extend the wire harness a bit. If I wasn't such a wuss with heat and humidity I would ditch the AC just to lose all that weight.

When I did it, I did the wire hide mod at the same time...this allowed me to snip the wires for the TCS from the bundle and run them to the new location. No wires were cut.
