Motor Oil! New Exciting Data!
The Petroleum Quality Institute of America (PQIA) is a new independent motor oil watchdog that tests motor oils and lets the general consumer know if the motor oils they buy are within specifications.
Their first test is in, CLICK HERE to view.
This is great because the motor oil manufacturers are not always up front with the actual specifications of their oils. No mystery any more!

5W-20 PU VOAs
Well PU just hit the market, PU the term they're using for Pennzoil Ultra, so I haven't seen any used oil analysis results come down the pike yet. However a couple people did send in the 5W-20 version for Virgin Oil Analysis (VOA). Both VOAs are from Blackstone Labs so take the additive numbers anyway you like.

Sarge, question... I am getting ready to change my oil. Had RP in it and now I am just happy it didnt blow up with that stuff from what I hear. My car has 90,000 mile, warm climate not hot, headers, CAI, other bolt ons no cam or heads yet. I have to admit I like to drive hard and it seems like with Royal Purple the valvetrain makes tons of noise. What should I get? Viscosity, brand, etc... Price is not a factor. Thanks

Sarge would probly recommend a good 10w30, Schaffer oil, Amsoil (which i personally use) and Pennzsoil platnuium. I use the 0w30 SSO Amsoil which i order from are friendly sponsor on here Compsyn. O and i beat the shit out of mine at the track no problems oil related.

havent changed the oil in our 2006 6.0 2500 yet, am interested in the results
i wish we could of got the 80 vette on schaeffers but we got rid of it(21mpg with a 3 speed!)
keep in mind the schaeffers 7000 is only synthetic blend, i know someone with another 97 powerstroke who went 25k on his last oil change using schaeffers 7000 15w-40, hes used it for 300k miles and used amsoil before that
long story short only other oil i'd use is amsoil

So let me ask before I do something stupid. How often should I change the oil on my 98 TA now that is hitting 100k? I use Mobil 1 10-40w, lucas oil treatment and KN filter. I was told that I can change it every 7k miles. Is this lucas stuff worth it? The car is a daily driver, no track time just ocasional street racing.

Thanks for the replies. Ok Ill stop using the lucas stuff. When you say stick to the 30 weight stuff, do you mean 10-30w mobil one synthetic? and Do 7k seems ok for the next oil change? The car has a small oil leak. Will dropping to 30w make it leak more? Thanks.

shouldnt make it leak more, if it does you need to repair the leak. Also the 10w30 would be fine. The proper way to know you could go 7k for a oil change is get a oil test. But myself i run my daily driver 7k oil changes with valvoline syn and it has 190,000 miles no problem yet. I think it would be ok. I do alot of highway though.
