Easy. Middle of the road returns compared to top dollar/availability=so so product.
Newer mixes provide better returns/full availability such as Pennzoil Platinum, Valvoline Synthetic .....to name a couple.
Cheech will do or say anything for money....so take his recommendations for what they are. Like Carol Shelby and ZMax.

My dipstick thinks Pennzoil Platinum or Valvoline Syn is better oil. Pennzoil Yellow Bottle performs better than that $8.75 per quart garbage. That UOA is really bad!
Weak add packs in Castrol Edge.
I think with my Rod Bearings thank you very much
Didnt you have a previous UOA?

Yes, I did but it was a Blackstone Analysis. Not as advanced as Terry, but even then you could tell that the oil was shearing.
I have Amsoil 10/30 in for my next two fills. Then another another Dyson Analysis.Last edited by lonewolf37; 05-31-2009 at 10:03 AM. Reason: More info

Hey Cajun, if Edge sucks, Syntec is probably worse. Or maybe Edge is the same thing at a higher price. Either way, no more Castrol in my motor.

silver- 99 camaro
i tried synthetic mobil 5-30 in my colorado at the first oil change and immediately started having lifter tick problems on start up i ran it for several oil changes before i got tired of the ticking noise and went back to castrol 5-30 and the noise immediately went away and have since not even looked at synthetics again is this a normal thing or just a fluke thing where it makes more noise any comments would be appreciated

I do not care for the "New Mobil1" watered down crap.
Run SM rated conventional with full confidence....but do not compare all GRPIII/GRPIV synthetics with Mobil1.

Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Econonmy
I am so fed up with bogus ad claims I want to puke. Next up is this new Mobil 1. There is no way I can verify fuel economy changes accurately. However, I am going to run a couple of UOAs to see if this oil is any good.
I bought a new wifemobile last month, a Chrysler 300C.
I am going to change at 1,000M, fill with Mobil 1 Fuel Economy 0/20. Go two fills, and a Dyson Analysis at 10,000M.
Let's see if Mobil is thinking with their dipstick (Those Castrol ads are too much).

So im buying a 1998 trans am and i was curious as to what the best oil was to use. Sees the track 3 times a month with driving to work and around town in traffic is about it till school starts back. I was using Havoline in the z-28's lt1 was curious about what to put in the ls1 since it doesnt have any leaks at all.

SSO
Well, I’m kind of biased, but I’d go with some Amsoil 0W-30 Signature Series Oil (SSO). It does an LS1 good.
