By the way boys and girls with flat tappet valve trains...this is what you want right here....turbo/blown/nitrous boys....this is your lucky day....Esters have replaced organic friction modifiers here....very high tech very expensive stuff that flat ass works....thus my excitement over the Pennzoil thing....but I will be giving this stuff a go head to head with Shaeffers Series 7000....

    Sure thing Sarge!

Just go to http://competitionsynthetics.com and scroll down until you see the Preferred Customer link. Click on that and then you’re redirected to the secure Amsoil storefront where you see the heading “Become a Preferred Customer”. Under the heading you will see “CLICK HERE” in yellow highlight. Okay! Almost done! This is kind of long winded process, but it’s what we got to deal with here. Now you see the heading “AMSOIL Preferred Customers SAVE! Right next to the Services pop down tab below you will see either PC Membership or Oil Analysis Services. Select the PC Membership and choose either the 6-month trial or the one-year membership.

Voila!!! Your done and now you can buy as many cases of Dominator racing oil as you like. Signing up like this not only allows you to purchase Amsoil products at cost like before, but also allows us at Competition Synthetics to get the credit for your purchases... Now Everyone’s Happy!

BTW. One of my customers experienced an issue during this process with his Mozilla Fire fox web browser. A simple fix was for him to switch to Internet Explorer and he was able to sign up for the PC Membership without issue.

    Thanks in advance Sarge!

40 weight in a tight clearance environment actually raises the oil temp believe it or not! Do you have a oil temp gauge? Oil pressure gauge? How are you determining what various viscosities are doing in your motor? Based on what?

I thought I'd be raising the temp but with a 160 thermostat wouldn't be a problem given the viscosity. I did not realize I was impeding lubrication with oil that was too thick. It was strictly seat of the pants and why I thought I'd ask before I went too much further. I have no other gauges yet.

I have less than 10 miles on the oil and its coming out this afternoon.

People tune and tune to the finest detail when we are talking about A/F knock retard etc. but they do not tune their oil. You are correct.....too thick and your lubricity goes down and your oil temps go up. It is a exercise.

OK, i'm trying to learn and, understanding about half. Which oil are you recomending sarge? Shaeffers or the AMSOIL or either 1? I have castrol 10-30 synth in it now. I have replaced everything so far,the top half of the motor the trans getting done now and the rear end has been done. If I can keep from blowing up the bottom end for a while this would be a major bonus. I was once told oil is cheap insurance so don't skimp.

Amsoil/Shaeffers/ or Pennzoil Platinum. You were told correctly.

Mobil1 is good oil. Better returns with Pennzoil Platinum. If that changes we will make adjustments to recommendations as formulas change.

    Post Revised PDS

FWIW - Pennzoil Platinum did just have a formulation change.

New Pennzoil Platinum Technical Data Sheet – revised April 2009 pdf link

And some of the physical properties have changed a bit.

Used Oil Analysis coming back from the lab reflecting lower wear metals and higher TBN retention.
