Battery dead/stereo noise

My battery is dead today but I can hear a humming noise coming from the Monsoon stereo when the car is off. But when I turn the key over the noise stops.

sounds like a short some where pull the fuse(s) for the stereo, charge the battery and see what happens.

Do you mean when you turn the key over "to start" the noise stops?

Discharged batteries can do weird things... whatever is causing the noise from the stereo probably stops when you switch the ignition on as other electrical accessories try to draw power. The voltage drain is then too much for what it left in the battery and the noise stops. Charge it and then see what happens.

^^^what he said. Dead or nearly dead batteries do funky things to electronics.

Or put a new battery in it, make sure the alternator is working, then you should be golden.

Had the battery tested and was told it was perfectly fine. They guy said that not having a good ground sometimes makes the stereo hum. That's what it was. Good to know.
