first time at the track
alright the other night was my first time with the car at the track. it's an 01 z28 6speed. Only ran twice but only put up a 15.3. Was very chilly only about high 30's and was having trouble with traction. Anyone have any pointers on launching, shifting? Car only has the slp lmII catback. Any info appreciated. Thanks.

drag strip driving
get the tires hot first....try different rpm for your launch.to find what y our tires will absorb ..depends on the strip and your tires.. feel for traction as you are spinning the tires....don't over rev....better to shift a little soon than too late....dont power shift at first if you are not used to it...quick lift throttle shifts will work fine

track temp was probably lower than 38, your never going to get good traction at the temp

What tire pressure were you running? Also some suspension mods will help too. Torque Arm, LCA's and yep Nitto's would help too.

speaking of tires.. I want to get rid of the stock 16's for possibly c6 wheels. Do I need spacers or anything or can they fit right on? Looking for probably a 17" wheel with 275's.

the 275's will help, especially with a good tire on em

I don't think you will need spacer's on those.. They should convert right over.. I have some Z06 rims the C5 type and I didn't need spacers.. So they should convert right over.. Call the people who you are gonna get the rims from they should be able to tell you.. Or another Rim company..
