2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
AFAIK, all manual tranny's need a pilot bushing/bearing on the end of the crank that will accept the input shaft of the tranny.
67 Camaro: K-K + 797-z (look it up), 454/Th400/4.10 12-bolt = 6mpg, PS/PDB/PW tilt, tach, gauges...

GM Parts Direct - part number 14061685.
Real PITA to remove. Get a Dremel with a Tungsten carbide cutting bit. Once you grind it out a bit on opposite sides (say, at 9 and 3 o'clock) use a pilot bushing removal tool to pop it out.Last edited by bberretta; 07-26-2010 at 10:04 PM.

is it easier to separate the bell housing from the transmission for re-install? removing it was a PITA! the bolt holes on the bell housing were jammed tight to the firewall..

I kept the bell housing seperate from the trans. Get 13mm and 15mm u-joint sockets and an extension that's at least 24" to 36". That's the trick to getting to a couple of the bolts.
