    lt1 msd optispark any good???

i have a 94 corvette with the early style non vented optispark in it. im debating on whether to buy a new oem ac delco optispark and install the 96 revised vacuum hose harness with some modifications or just buy the more expensive msd unit. the msd claims that it has a fresh air vent. anybody out there know anything about these??? thanks..............jeff

i dont feel like looking this up to make sure i am right but i belive the msd has real bearings and the oem and ac have brushes. theres a big strength issue just on the point alone.

i read some forums on camaroz28.com and quite a few people are having some troubles with the msd. my ac delco has 80,000 with no symtoms and hasnt been changed yet. just reading all of these horror stories about the stock optispark made me want to change it as preventive maintenance. gm recommends changing them every 60,000mi. i think i will go ahead and get the ac delco. thanks for the opinions..........jeff

I replaced my optispark with a MSD kit. I also changed to iridium plugs and MSD wires... I felt a pretty good change in the rev/power/smoothness all around the RPM range... as always, never touch a wire while the car is running.. its just not smart man. heh
