got a good deal on one from a friend who needs some cash. i don't know a whole bunch about the gun other than it shoots a 7.62 round and is a semi-auto. he is including in two 40 round magazines and some ammo with the gun. opinions?

sks is a really good gun to own,fun and cheap i would prfer an ak47 myself but i too own an sks and they are really good reliable guns to own and have fun with

i wouldnt spent more than about $400 on it unless it comes with a bunch of extras and even that is a little high cosidering before Obama you could get them for about $175

thats not bad,before obama half the people i know went and bought one with a 100rds. for $180 each and now your lucky to find one for around $350

so, what is the consensus on sks that take mags? I always look down on them and prefer the stripper clip sks.

Update,got the sks yesterday,came in a nice plano gun case,one 30 round clip,two 40 round clips,over 300 rounds of ammo, an adjustable stock,and picatinny rails

Somebody "Bubba'd that sum bitch....I have yet to see a detachable clip on a SKS feed reliably.....hope your the first....

i know of 2 sks with the tapco stock and detachable mag. that havent had any feed problems yet but that cheap ass wolf ammo can be an issue
the last batch we got had about 1 dud for every 5 rounds

loaded and ready,both 40s and the 30. they say it's gonna snow like hell tomorrow,weather man used the words "significant snowfall" and "historic event",hell we even got off work tomorrow,if this comes to pass,i'm gonna make a big ass snowman,then blow his frosty ass away with my sks. lol

well i didn't make a snowman to shoot up,but i did squeeze off about 60 rounds today,many coke bottles filled with water met their maker today.sks performed great not problems,my wife even got to shoot it a bit.good day!
