history lesson
OK so as not to derail the funny pics thread I decided to post this here
and what I do know about it.
The Swastika
I know it has been around way longer than 500 years. I have seen it in pictures of anchient Roman items, walls in anchient Egyptian tombs and many other places in many other times and all over the world and they have different meanings in just about every place they was used
some of the meanings are : well being, good luck, prosperity, and victory. There is another interpritation that involves the beliefs of the Hindu;. It involves their principle deity (Shiva) Shakti which is the feminine principle in the universe Brahma ( the manifestation of God in the creation of the universe) and part of the Hindu trinity. and a system of Indian yoga
Now why Nazi Germany used them could have been for a combination of everything or any individual purpose. From what I understand Hitler was a bit of a religeous nut so who knows.
The point is that just because Nazi Germany used it ; it will forever be seen as a racist symbol even though it isn't. Now I ask you who are the truely ignorant ones?
I think it comes from both sides not knowing what the symbol means and both sides believing that it is a racist symbol.

For Germany, It was derived from the lightning bolts or "SS" symbol that the Nazi Party used on their original uniforms (before Hilter was chanellor)..
The 2 lightning bolts were crossed to comprise the swastika (@ the time meaning unity of Germany). It also had under tones in "Blitzkreig" or "lighting war"..
After WWII the Swastika became synonomus with the millions of dead and evil, rather than it's original intended use..Last edited by Smittro; 04-16-2011 at 05:43 AM.

Durring Hilters rein(sp), the most feared emblem was'nt the Swastika..
But rather the "SS" acompanied by a skull and crossed bones (jolly roger)..
Wearers of the death sign were the guys whom seperated mothers from their children and then would kill the chilren out right among many other atroscities..
If lucky, the mother would be killed out right as well..
The Nazi's were not above making human skin lamp shades........................Last edited by Smittro; 04-17-2011 at 08:17 AM.

All very true the SS guys wearing that symbol would also gauge whether or not a person was unfit for work in which case they were gassed, shot out right, or burned. And yes as sick as the NAZIS were they werent above making skin lampshades, or doing medical experiments while they were still awake with no numbing agent.

you are correct...
a horizontal and verticle swastika = peace
an angled swastika = nazi
many symbols throughout history have been either adopted or altered by others, and therefore changing its meaning.
the catholic church is notorious for altering the meaning of symbols that belonged to other religions. The catholic church did this purposely to scare people of the other religions.
Catholics killed it for pagans. Hence the pentagram.
Pagans used the pentagram as the nature of five (water, earth, fire, spirit, air)
To scare others from becoming pagan, the catholics flipped it and said it pretty much means the devils goat.. in turn people didnt become pagans they became catholics.
Another fine example is the rainbow.
because of gays taking the rainbow, Apple, no longer has a rainbow colored apple for a logo. Now its a white apple.
if you dare wear a shirt with a rainbow on, people think your gay.

Durring that time, our "allie" (sp) The USSR was also involved in medical experimentation.
This was uaually performed on their own people and common pets like dogs, and cats, with just thier head connected to machines and kept alive..
Durring those days it was'nt even good to be a blood relation to Stalin which is known to have had his own family members put to death..Last edited by Smittro; 04-18-2011 at 02:57 AM.

You'd have to look into books dealing with russian medical history I can't remember the names but there are a few.. Should be able to find what you're looking for online tho..
IIRC, I believe they were trying to find out if it was possible to correct spinal injury, or ways to do so.. Have to look @ books about the countries rather than just the wars.. There was a short and long version of the actual film online (not the youtube one).. The film was for medical purposes like a classroom presentation..
It had nothing to do with torture..Last edited by Smittro; 04-18-2011 at 09:51 AM.
