I would consider a couple oil...
First I would recommend is the one your running now.
2nd would be Mobil1 EP 5-30.
After the turbo install I would consider Mobil1 0-40 or staying with the Amsoil SSO 0-30. Definety a Used Oill Analysis. Mobil1 will have higher lead readings. There is quite alot of debate but the concensus seems to be the higher lead readings is not wear metal but an interaction between the Mobil add packs and the engine componenets.
Finally I must say I have not found a stouter oil than the Amsoil SSO 0-30 for "brutal" environments..

Oils/add packs and seal material has all changed in the past few years. So an accurate answer from a few years ago will not be accurate today.
Softening the seal material is not what is done. Cleaning around the seals is what todays SN oils do. By keeping the seal clean crud is not formed. Crud keeps the oil from reaching the seal. No oil+Heat=cracked seals. Cleaning agents in the oil+Seal=clean/lubricated seals.
Lot of additives on the market will tell you they will swell the seal and stop leaks. Mechanic in a bottle. Homey don't buy that crap. How does it get to the crud encrusted seal? And if it does get to it (partially) it alters the material composition and you usually will have a seal failure because it is too soft now. Lot's of people will change to high detergent synthetic and develop leaks. This is because the cracked seal has been sealed by crud. The HD Oil cleans the crud and you spring a leak.
Moral to this story is quality oil and reasonably oil change intervals and you will not have these issues to begin with. Older cars who have not been maintained or using less than quality oil will need to change the seals then be consistent with oil and oil change intervals.

Sounds good, I'll stick with what I'm using then. How many miles could I run the engine with a fresh fill? Should I stick with the oil life system that's in the cars computer? I estimate on a track day I'll put about 50-100 hard miles on it, the rest would be just normal daily use, I think it's safe to say I'll do 80% of normal driving and 20% of racing in the summer.

Not a big Penrite fan here. Sorry. I run a Holden here in Texas myself and am active on Australian boards. Not impressed with UOA lab results of Penrite frankly.
I would recommend Amsoil 10-30. You can get it in Australia. Outstanding add packs and TBN.
Link provides locations to purchase Amsoil in Australia..

Only a UOA will tell you what you are asking. The OLM only tracks mileage/TPS data/Injector cycles etc. Not the status of the oil.
Run a fresh fill for a 2000 miles. After the first track day lets look at the analysis.

Sarge,
I just bought my 02 z28 and Im about to do my first oc with her, I am going with Amsoil after reading this thread! What is your thoughts on SS0W-30 vs. European Car Formula 5W-30? Also in a previous post you said you use a K&N filter! Any reason you dont also use an Amsoil filter?

SSO is what you want. Your not going 15K miles between oil changes I hope.
I dont use any KN filters anywhere (air or oil) so I guess I am at a loss here. Unless it was a really old post somewhere.

No any one of those will serve you well.
When I was raised in Hurst there was nothing but fields north of PipeLine Road.
Brown Trail was a dirt road.
We had two cops.
