I hear ya. I prefered to buy these things new when they came out, and that's just what we did. When all these 4th gens started showing up at the tracks in the mid 90's and seeing all these temp tags, my father and I looked at ourselves and the first thing out of our mouth was,,,,I sure wouldn't want to buy a used one It was comical, had to be there I guess....
Then my wifes got totalled like yours, and when she said she wanted another one (10 years after the fact) and the cars have been extinct for more than 5 years at that time (2007) I thought, oh great, where am I going to find a stock one now??? What a pain that is....I wish you luck and hope it turns out in your favor.

Sunset Orange Metalic- 2001 Camaro SS
Or look it over, if i like it, buy it, repaint it, mod it!
I personally would love a white SS. White has grown on me and if its clean enough i would take it in a heartbeat, just... no money yet.
Still got parts waiting that never made it to my Z that have been sitting for a while so i got stuff to keep me busy.

If not look for water damage behind the rear seats.. From under the hatch seal it will run down along the body line then on to the front side on the fender bump and fill the pockets under the rear seat buckets. Once that area fills with water it then has a tendancy to run down to the floor. All happens under the carpet. But there will be water marks and discoloration of the edges of the carpet and inside the pockets..

Cool.. Quickest way I know to tell if this has happend is to feel the floor behind the front seats and back seat bottoms.. Also if the rear seat cushions have ever been water logged the seat fabric will sometimes look like something got spilled into the bucket with odd deposits around the cover seams..

Sunset Orange Metalic- 2001 Camaro SS
I'll have to check that out
As long as the car is mechanically sound and i don't hear any whines, noises and the car is well maintained then i should be driving home a new SS this week. Now how to explain the pink...
