LS6 valley cover in pics

Well i decided to get the hole shabang! LS6 valley cover, new Knock sensors, and knock sensor harness. might as well since im going in there for the new LS6 Intake. And an extra oil pressure switch... just in case lol

Thought id mention too that id you are going from a stock LS1 set up to LS6 intake heres what you should get to avoid all hassles
-LS6 intake manifold (duh lol) $300-500
-LS6 valley cover with vent tube. Ensure it has the holes on the vent system inside. $100-180
-New style Knock sensor harness $50
-New Knock sensors $50
-recommend a new OPSU JUST IN CASE lol $50
-A short U shaped PCV hose OR a Good Catch can. $10-200
-Depending on your exsisting PCV line and if you want to run it, a new one to freshen it up. $100-190

I also have this......nice thing is you don't need to grind the block to make it fit. Bad thing is that you still need to buy the LS6 valley cover

Also to be sure on the PCV setup;

-Drivers Rear Valve cover PCV tube blocked off
-Passenger Rear Valve cover PCV tube blocked off.
-Passenger FRONT Valve cover PCV tube leads to the normal Throttle body location.

The new LS6 Valley cover Tube goes to either;
-Directly up to the intake manifold
OR
-Through a Catch can and then into the Intake manifold

Right?

Also to pretty it up, what sized braided hose can be used in place of actual PCV tubing? Im not familur with AN sizing.
Now is this still good on Forced Induction applications? not to steer too off topic but trying to get the PCV thing straightened out cause im finding it hard to follow.

I got to get me one of those LS6 valley cover. For the price of it its worth it, give you a nice clean engine .

did you use the GM part to block the drivers side valve cover hole? or just stick something in there? I used the rubber cover that was on the valley cover nipple when it was shipped.......fits nicely on the rear pass vent tube.......just look at the pics and you can see where the hoses go.......i am not using a catch can so IDK about that

not enough rubber there to justify braided IMO

yes I did this while back the guide online helped a great deal I took my time and did it right car runs so much better

Cool! I was just trying be sure. Ive been trying to get the PCV routing figured out in my head. As for the braided I just wanted to bling up the engine compartment alittle while still looking semi stock.

Correct on above, in regards to Force Induction 100% not sure. I don't think it would be a problem because it is angled away from the throttle body and is low enough that I see no clearance issues. Every SC I've seen looks to be about the same size as the intake or have been raised not lowered.

Catch Can is the way to go, The new LS6 Valley Cover has the PCV embedded in it. But the PCV still allows oil to weep past it and allow it to go into the intake. The catch can collects the oil and helps clean the re-cycle air returning to the intake.

Another thing The socket for the OPSU is about $10. It's worth getting it even if you only use it once or twice.

i just put in a LS6 intake this weekend......i was getting the code for knock sensors due to the corrosion on the old wire harness......so i had some new delphi KS and a new KS wire harness to install.......that non hardening sealer i put on the caps when i did the cover install turned to damm concrete from the heat........was a pure bitch to remove......i did another trick.......i used high temp silicone to build a wall around the holes so water would not just rush in there.......hope that does the trick to keep the water out.........and i did not break the OPSU this time

I'm about to do the swap so I was wondering if you got pics of the "wall" you built?

just take the silicone and make a circle around the KS hole in the cover.....made it about 1/16 to 1/8 high.....i made sure it did not touch where the plastic cap goes.....to simple.......the silicone took a day to dry tho.....i made the wall before i put the harness in........but i guess you could put the harness in and then silicone it up and use the silicone to hold the harness wires in place.......i thought if i silicone the caps in that it would be a bitch to remove ......so the wall seems a better idea.....i also de finned the bottom of the intake so it would not snag on anything .......just a thought

Did my LS6 intake and valley pan today. Eventually will be running a catch can but for now the valley is running straight to the intake.
