You were running low 14's at that altitude? That should translate into almost low 13's at a good altitude. Isn't Bandimere 5800 ft up? I know Luos goes there alot with his new beast.

5850 ft to be exact. Too bad the DA is never that low. Even on the coldest nights of the season it rarely goes below 7000+ft. In the summer it's over 10000.

Damn, poor engines might suffocate to death up there.

    1992 corvette conv 6/spd

    LT1 Vette / LT1 Firebird

I hope this doesn't sound stupid but I was wondering if the Corvette LT1's ran any better or worse than the LT1 Firebird or Camaro?

I have a 92 Corvette six speed and ran a 95 Firebird six speed, last week from a dead stop all the way through 3rd gear and I had him about a half a car length through 1st and second and in third we were bumper to bumper. I asked him if he had any mods and he said he had no muffler just straight pipe. all I have is an open air lid.

    thanks

They use the same engine and have the same potential. But the corvette LT1 will edge out the f-body LT1 because it came with a slightly different setup from the factory, i.e. true-dual exhaust in the vette while the f-body uses a y-pipe. No way GM would let the f-body enfringe on the vette territory. The vette LT1 also had 4-bolt mains, instead of 2, and some other stuff that I can't think of right now.

The vettes are slightly faster, but not really because of their power advantage. Mostly because of their weight advantage. Power to the wheels is similar to an f body, as the vette's IRS soaks up a bit more power than the f body's solid rear axle.

    Thanks for any input.

My LT1 is bone stock, automatic. I ran 14.3/95mph last summer in the heat with a .3 RT. Paper filter, stock exhaust, regular gas, everything factory. That makes it a 14.0 second car. It could do better with a few free mods, maybe .1-.2better. In better air perhaps .2-.3 better also.

It's a quick engine and a set of headers and exhaust, intake, will get an easy 13.5 out of it.
