what makes a ls1 better than a lt1? other than they are light weight?

if you go bore a ls1 you gotta re sleeve the motor which will cost you some jack and the big difference between them stock for stock is the heads n intake. the ls1 flows better from factory. doesnt mean a lt1 cant be built a little better. for the 3k i would spend on a STOCK ls1 motor by itself to swap ive already got a lt1 stroker forged short block. add heads n intake to that and im making 150-250 more hp then i would be on a ls1 for the $$

with the lt1 cast block I can make as much hp as my wallet allows with a decent budget.

    it'd only be a good choice if your LT block is completely doneski and you can find an ls1 for cheap. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

    wait, wait. . . ."better" choice. . . .

Look, no need to be an asshole. All I was saying is, why not build a LS1 instead of a LT1 if your building a engine anyway. I was referring JwMonE99 anyway, who asked for your input?

Yeah, I know what you were saying. But what you dont realize is that LS1 owners have no issues telling LT1 owners how much better their shit is... It gets old hearing. I have owned and driven both. I expect the LS1 to be the better overall motor as it was designed and built in the 90s... much newer design. I know it's hard for LS1 owners to fathom, but some LT1 owners like their current cars... couldnt care less about LS1s... or maybe just want to build their LT1 anyway.

This discussion is over... you've stated your opinion in this thread... be done with it. And you dont have to ask for my opinion, I'll put it in wherever I see fit, like everyone else in this section.

they all can be made to make big power. its just according to the owner and what he likes.

the lt1 motors doo not get enough credit as they should. there is a local guy down here that took a BONE stock lt1 and stuck a 300shot on it and ran it nearly for 2 full race seasons before if finally blew.

sorry i know you want this to be over, but i don't understand why there is such a fierce LT vs LS debate. LT will make same power as an LS cube-for-cube if you got some monster heads on 'em. LS heads flow a lot better w/ their better head design but that doesn't mean that aftermarket companies cant/dont compensate w/ proportional runners/combustion chamber design on their LT heads. . . . .
