That and also how would you determine which class to be in? Cause my car isn't stock but I definitely wouldn't consider entering my car in the modified class. Also.. when you look at these pictures along with a list of mods.. they're going to be judged highly on appearance anyway. Like what DJ said.

and one more thing, let's not start flaming that appearance based COTM is ricey. not a smart comment. there's plenty folks that take their LS1 to car shows as well. thanks!

different classes is not really an option. To much time involved, not enough cars to fill the spots, and to much of a grey area between cars. Just not a good option.

COTM and COTY have to go hand in hand because the COTY will be picked from that years COTM winners.
The reason I was thinking the whole COTM package to be judged for COTY is because it helps to single out specifics and give some credit to these guys for writing up their stories. I know the last 3 winners have put a ton of thought and work just into the story alone so that deserves some recognition. When you look at a COTM submission the first thing that's gonna pop out is the picture itself. Then you start noticing the lesser details of the picture. Therefore the picture itself will be 90% of the reason people vote for a car regardless of the mods.

    I missed this earlier.

My car fits both I think. Then what??
My goal was to be fairly quick, but look damn near stock.

I've just joined the board, but I'll add my opinion.

Damn, that wasn't supposed to happen. Anyway, I've just come from a Jeep board. They had two classes for Cherokee of the Month; Stock/lightly modified, and Modified. Honestly, I think that's the only way this can work and be fair.

Limit the stock/slightly modified class to vehicles with the most basic bolt ons; exhaust, lid, stuff like that.

Modified class, anything goes. Strokers, nitrous, turbos, whatever.

You'd have two COTM, one stock/slightly modified, and one heavily modified.

For COTY, you’d have two as well. One stock/slightly modified, and one heavily modified. Choose the COTY from the previous twelve winners of the COTM in each class, respectively.

This way, it’d be as fair as possible. Members who can’t afford a heavily modified car could win the stock/slightly modified COTY, and members who have heavily modified their car could win as well.

I do understand that this would be a lot of work for moderators, as sorting, editing and posting each COTM would be a pain. Also, if there aren't enough cars to fill the spots, then it obviously wouldn't work.

That said, I am one of the newest members, and I don’t even own an LS1, at least yet. Feel free to flame me; I’m going back to Autotrader.com.

A lesser car with a picture that pops might get my vote over a more deserving car with a lesser picture. The opposite might be true as well. A car that looks amazing and can run 11s or 12s (which most LS1's can run with bolt ons or a cam) will get my attention over a car that can run 10s or better if it has no visual appeal.

Just vote for what you like, life is going to go on regardless.

I wish everyone thought like you. It'd keep the drama to a minimum.

Then you run into the debate of what's slightly modded vs. what's heavily modded. There's a fine line with these cars. You'd really run into an argument there...

COTY should be about picking the best from the winners of COTM. Once voting for COTY then take in the factor of looks and mods. Once the COTM winner are going up against each other have them list thier performance mods as well as apearance mods and have the members vote on those factors and not on which one looks good. ONce again my .02 cents, so that make it .04 cents.

I think COTY is a great idea, and I agree with what was said about judging differently, like including a list of mods for COTY. I think appearance-only is fine for COTM.
I think I'm gonna try this once and see how it works out. I have a feeling that by the time the votings done everyone will have posted up which car belongs to who.

i like it, i like the idea of no names but there are some who stick out like a sore thumb(Luos and Sarge). also, the idea of 2 coty is kinda appealing but too much work imho. good luck Orion! lots of different options to sort thru
