The better the vicosity the less of a chance it will have of thining out under extreme heat. You don't want that to happen, because it will drop oil pressure and you can cause internal damage. Hope this helps.
I used to run the 10W-30 Valvoline Full Synthetic and when I switched to RP i noticed a bit more valvetrain noise.
right now im running RP 5W-30. i admit, i run it hard sometimes. should i use RP 10W-30 instead?

BTW my engine is ALL stock

Still a 30 weight. The first number is the viscosity at 0c. Not 100c.(212f)...
Thicker would be a 40 weight.

I service vehicles with Amsoil. I work at a tranny shop, when I first heard of this oil a few years back i wasn't falling for the sales pitch. After years of using this stuff and the the other brands of oil ex. mobil 1, castrol. I saw a big difference in quality. Even the oil filters from Amsoil are sealed, that to me says they took the time to prvide a clean oil filter, or their marketing plan is working.... But anyways that Amsoil gets my vote

Might want to consider the climate as well when deciding which to use.

    x1000.

I'm a mechanical engineer and I use ONLY Amsoil and their filters. If they don't make a filter for my car (such as my 2001 Olds Aurora), I use WIX.

Gear Lube: http://www.amsoil.com/lit/g2457.pdf Note RP and Redlines crappy #s.

In 2004 I switched all my vehicles from Mobile 1 to Amsoil. Never looked back.
