Bestbuy pisses me off. I called about the Compaq for $399 today. They are sold out. The put stuff like that in their sales paper but only stock a few as to get customers to come in. They pull Black Friday tricks out al year long

no travel just would like to be able to use the pc in other places besides a desk, and would be cool to be able to get online out and about to post on ls1.com

also lets say I am working on my car and need to look at some info online I dont have to go back and forth inside. Also would be cool to have a tuner program and have a Laptop to hook up to my car

I ending up buying the Compaq Presario C762NR today at Bestbuy. It was on sale for $399, regular price $599. I just got it set-up. So far its pretty cool !

What wireless router should I buy ? I have a 10meg connection at home on my desktop.

I looked at a lot of computers online, but when I actually went into the store they had a few on clearance (close outs, last years models)it paid off for us. I hope that you are lucky and find a good deal. Its fun with both of us having a laptop cause we both can be on the LS1 website together or other sites. Do you have a Office Depot or similar store in you area?

Yes, the price has come down so much and the computers are better, it is a whole new world. I know the feeling, my 11 yr old does the same thing. So my older daughter and husband share one and the 11 year old and I share the other. Have fun with it.

you can also get a docking station and use it like a desk top... plug in a mouse to it and what not...

I have both and they each have their advantages over the other. A desktop is more upgradeable and a notebook is more portable (obviously). The important thing to consider is what will you be doing the most with your system? If you see yourself traveling alot and needing to take your work with you, get the notebook. If you wanna get into gaming and/or heavy design, get a desktop. There are still many limits to a notebook in that area. My main desktop is a custom built system and will run rings around the notebook always.

I bought a Dynex enhanced (G) up to 125 mbps, 213.3 meters and range up to 700 feet. I have a 10meg Internet Service. I hope this router will allow me to get that speed of the connection

Yeah its funny how different routers yield different speed . I had a dlink that was ok, a netgear that had great wireless downloads but this linksys is so far the best. Y ears ago I had linksys and they would die in a couple of months. glad I went back to them.

the Dynex is great for general Internet usuage but I think it would be slow for downloads. But I am only using my old Desktop for dl's

not bad at all..........when I sat in my recliner I had a tv tray in my lap so it stayed well vented
