    This is my transfer case.

    My rear.

I can't get a good pick of the front one but I'll try later.. My steel skid plate hides it..

No mine looks like this.. You can just make out the buttons in the photo.
The buttons are 4(with an arrow pointing up),, 4(with a pointing up and a lock icon),,

4(with arrow pointing down and a lock icon.. On the passenger side is the active stability over ride control..

Oh and Torque transfer,, just because a "manual" button is not there does'nt always mean an option is also not there..

Example,, many cars have traction control, some have an over ride button,, some don't,, but they still have TC,

or in the case of an 4th gen f-body ASR.

GM is notorious for putting things here and that there then skipping it altogether on others.

It should also be noted I never stated my H3 was special in any way.

    It is what it is.

I simply stated I have a front locker (which is wholey true wheather it's with brakes or by other means) and can turn it..

Never made any mention of how I "thought" it worked.

    Least I don't think I did..

Oh Smittro...foot in mouth big time there, huh? Not only do you NOT have a front locker...you don't have the rear locker either. You have the soccer mom version on an H3.
When we say LOCKER, we mean the e-locker (in the case of an H3) or any mechanical/air operated locker. NOT traction control.

BTW, don't get all butt hurt, I'm just busting your balls a bit.

I seem to remember the adventure package had the rear diff e-locker but maybe not. I know the Luxury package didn't. Maybe only the big tire Off-Road package had the rear locker. IDK, its been a while since I had that stuff stored in my brain. I guess I could just google it...

WHen you press and hold the far right hand button, (the one with the skidding truck icon) the message center flashes "active sability off"..

I know when I pick up one front tire the one on the ground startes to pull after about maybe a second.

Now I know I heard the brakes when I was pulling another truck in reverse, but did'nt seem to in forward motion.

In L4 I was able to go WOT and spin both fronts to get the nose to swing around in the woods/ mud and snow about 12inches deep.

Durring this time the "low traction" light did'nt flicker. But it will come on on slippery pavement..

The trany tune helped get rid of the sluggish shift points and improved driveablity on a daily basis.

Well they had options on the 16's and that was a 32" and a 33" mine had factory tire on it when I purchased it those were 33".

So that's what I stuck to.. I believe the rear locker was standard on all H3's.. 08 and up though.

I changed to Toyo from the factory Good years too..

Steven, get me the VIN, I'll look up what the "Adventure Package" includes according to GM.

lol It basicly means the truck is devoid of anything other than an off road favoring suspension..

No sun roof, no chrome wheels, no leather, but maintains most of the electronics. Xm, Onstar, stability control, traction control, abs, power ports front and rear.. etc etc.

It was also devoid of any "tacticle" options..

As I said we researched these heavily before our purchase.

"Adventure" just happened to be on the right truck for us..

Those three push-buttons on the drivers side control the planetary center differential (inside the BorgWarner 4494 transfer case) StabiliTack electronic stability control, and low range engagement. That’s all.

Your H3’s traction control system (TCS) is active every time you start the engine, regardless of what mode the transfer case is in. Section 4-5 in your owner’s manual provides conformation.

    In Four High mode

Planetary-geared center differential unlocked with 40/60 front-to-rear torque split
    Four-wheel electronic traction control

    In Four High Lock

Planetary-geared center differential locked with 50/50 front-to-rear torque split
    Four-wheel electronic traction control

    In Four Low Lock

Planetary-geared center differential locked with 50/50 front-to-rear torque split
    StabiliTack electronic stability control disabled
    Four-wheel electronic traction control
    Low range gearing

The front and rear axle differentials in your Hummer H3 (if that was a photo of your vehicle specifically) are conventional open differentials, since it didn’t come with the optional Eaton E-Lockers available from the factory. Four-wheel electronic traction control performs ABS breaking on any of the four wheels to simulate locking differentials in the axles. Again this function works in 4 High, 4 High Lock, and 4 Low Lock.

After 2008? This photo is of a 2009 Hummer H3, as is the other one.
Shows both lock buttons for the front and rear Eaton E-Lockers. None of which function in Four High or Four High Lock.

It has the BorgWarner 4493 (on the transfer case ID tag), and the transfer case's date of manufacture was 08/29/2007. The 4493 has the 2.64:1 low range ratio.

Only the optional BorgWarner 4494 had the 4:1 low range ratio.

Anyway, it was nice meeting and talking with you all. Glad I could help in explaining how the Tundra’s system worked. If you have any questions about any other all-wheel drive systems, just ask. Take care.
