Awesome... SOunds Great. 850 would be large for a 346 motor... generally the 750 should carry you to a 402LS motor ...even with a stock 427LS7 (ls-motor) Over that size engine 850 will be great.
I dont know you combo (cam, stall and compression) or if you plan on using a heavy hit of N2O on the 346...if so than the 850 should work. Assuming you got the GM crate engine with upgraded cam (that would be the LS6 cam or GM hot cam) I think that is to much carb.
The LS2 crate motor recommends a 750 vacuum carb.
364ci LS motor (440 gross HP)

Ok I conceed in my case I started with nothing. For you guys that tinker and build your on motors, trans etc I can see how it is cheaper. For folks like me that are novice mechanics at best it is not cheaper. I had to consider the cost of a trans. I spent 4500$ delivered for a 2002 ls1 38K miles 4L60e complete with 90% of what is needed to run in my old car. I went this route because I had my 1969 olds 455 in a engine shop and started estimating cost. By the time I built the engine bought a od trans that would hold up behind it I was looking at 6k. I spent about that getting the ls1 setup running in my car. I now have a far better daily driver that will also blow the doors off what the 455 setup would have and most likely get 20+ mpg. If the carbs are faster I understand that was my first question. The best thing I like about the FI is you bump the key and it starts.

NO hate for ya Brother.... sounds like a pretty sweet deal.
I my case... $1500 for long block 01 and 03 heads-f-body acccesories and pullies, F-body pan and oil pump, ... picked up some C5 manifolds for $50.00 edelbrock kit for 700.00 (with msd controller, gaskets, brakets and RPM intake) Already had a CARB and Exhaust system
Few other odds and end... about $2600 in my parts... then purchased a new AED DP $500.00... Broke my old TH350... got another one.. new stall etc.. Of course had etc labor for mods to make it fit...

pewter- 99 Trans Am
I have been given a 2000 6.0 with everything on it fan, intake, waterpump pullies.flywheel and coils. The engine have the iron heads.I'm thinking about doing the same thing, but i need to know somethings (1) what cam do you need to get the most out of the engine? (2)what horse power do this engine have stock (3) with all the coils on the engine would it be better to just do a 350 or 383 stocker and have only one coil, dist, and wires to really worry about.(4) will my 350 trans work with this 6.0? I plain on putting it in my 69 truck or my 77 camaro. What is the cost of rebuild parts?

Man you're more ambitious than I am. I would have done the heads, intake and any other accessory that fits in there before I drop the motor in.
I don't want to bend over the fender for anything more than I have to.

2016 Camaro SS - Summit- 2001 Trans Am WS6 - NBM
Just now seeing this thread...I'm a little slow Well, some would say outright retarded...
Anyway, my uncle has a 79 Corvette he's restored and won a few shows with. He won best paint job at the Starbird show 2007 in Wichita, very cool. It's got a 400 small block with about 490~ hp, 500+ft lbs tq. He just went through his third tranny and has had the last straw, so he's putting in a new bulletproof one (can't remember what kind), and has been going back and forth about putting a 671 blower on top, or going with an LS engine.....choices choices lol, I'll keep in touch with him and get more details when I can. Here's a link to a pic....

Think when I have an extra $3-4k I'm going to take the SS to his paint guy
Very nice 77 by the way Can't wait to see/hear that LSX!!
