If you strip the block bare you should get some cash for it. You could always look for a used block or engine to get you up and running. Here is a long block in brooklyn for 1800 http://newyork.craigslist.org/brk/pts/861713381.html

There is a yard in Michigan selling an LS2 out of a Trailblazer SS. They want $4,500 for it.

Thanks, but that's WAY out of my price range...I would be buying a 402 stroker if that were the case...Thanks though!

Not a good thing man, am sorry to hear of it. As far as scrap worth, I was getting about 20-25 bucks a pop for scrap aluminum wheels from the scrap yards. If that helps you in anyway.

Recycling rates vary by geographic location ( read density of MethHeads) so yeah, its possible you could get bumpkiss for your block.

I'm pretty sure some shit fell into the motor too, cause it was chattering like HELL for about 5 seconds until I could shut it off...

Is the aluminum block worth anything...?
I love the LQ4/9's. Its basically a LS2 with a weight penalty. My numbers are higher because of the heads and full exhaust. I have 100% intentions on stroking this motor in the next years. You can find LQ4/9's all over for pretty cheap.

I would NEVER pay that for a used LS2. That is starting to get into the 402/408 money region. O Hell no.

Good luck with your choice man, sucks to see that.

I don't have the heads, but I do have LT's and full exhaust!!! I found some pretty good deals on egay...Do you have the ls1 style coils on your motor, or the LQX style? And before you did your FAST 92/92, what intake did you have on there?

    Oh, and thank you!

Pretty sure they are LS1 style.

I had the stock ls1 intake and TB.

Good stuff, I guess if I go the Lq4/9 route I can just use my ls6 intake and coils on top the my 241 heads...?

I'm guessing the bellhousing would match right up? Same with motor mounts, and me swapping over my oil pan, etc...Seems like they are, for the most part, a swap over? How about pcu/ electronic conversions?

Maybe I should make a thread about LQX swaps...?
