Again, I think the pushrod would have survived. If the rocker pedestal snapped the pushrod's upward force combined with the springs upward force both acting on the rocker snapped it upwards. Usually this is every time the valve needs to open, but the head hold the rocker down. He stated his port work took a lot out of the intake port. If it was thin enough there was not enough material to hold the rocker and it snapped.
