I have never seen a bone stock 2000 LS1 over 308 and most are around 303 or so and maybe 298 from what I hear from other people. And I seriously doubt my 97 ram air would dyno at 250 to 260.. I'm going with averages not extreme best for an LS1 and the extreme worse for a LT1. *rolling eyes* You also have to remember some people say they are bone stock but really have done a few little bolt on's and they say they are stock. haha not the same. 9 times out of 10, if someone is on a dyno, they've at least done 1 free mod. haha

When I had my 95 M6 I only put a K&N on it cut out the bottom the intake box on the dirty side. Did a custom catless 3" exhaust system and decent 16" tires and I beat up on a stock 98 WS6 A4 really good from a roll and out of the hole. I never got times on it, but I'm sure it was in the 13's. I raced a 98 m5 cobra that had similar mods and I was dead even with him until we hit 2nd I just pulled hard on him through second and third. He said he ran high 13's with it. I really liked it and my friend that I sold it to still loves it. She like to burn rubber with it! I think the LT1 Camaro looks better then the LS1 version, but the LS1 TA is better looking than what the LT1 was.

The cobra could have missed a gear though, good kill nonetheless.

for me the LT engine is family...i literally grew up with the small block chevy...in all its iterations....ez to work on, tune, reaonable to buy stuff for
I had a very streetable slightly upgraded LT1 type in a drag 65 Malibu that was so much fun and reasonably fast. 4 speeds of getupand go...high 11's on 9" tires (no tubs for that car!!) at just under 114....cam ws good old '141 service package Z28 cam and springs..1x4 Bbl Holley 700, not even angle plug heads just some cc'd "fuelie" heads..shifted 6500...thru the lights at just under 7000...i loved it!!! RIP Malibu!!! I can still hear you scream!!

I think this whole LT1 vs LS1 is stupid. Both are GM pushrod V8 smallblocks that get respect. End of story.

    chevy smallblocks

I agree ...both are amazing engines....pushrods and all...I never would have thought GM / Chevy would push the envelope as far as the Z06...and they probably would not have if it were not for the C5R and C6R programs. But that said, over 500 honest H P from pushrod engine technology..427 cu inch and all...wow

The new LS8 and LS9 should be promising as well.

man those ls7 motors are sick. Every time i see a vid of the c6 z06 shifting at 7 grand...

just hope they add the ls7 or another equivalent for a zl1 option in 2008.

The LS9 is going into the new 'Corvette SS', 'Blue Devil', 'Stringray', or whatever they decided to name the new corvette. Its a supercharged 6.2L smallblock estimated to put out AT LEAST 650hp, probably more. The LS8 is pretty much the same, a supercharged smallblock but not intercooled like the LS9, but the output is estimated AT LEAST 500hp.
Then the LS3 is said to get the nod for the 08 GTO. That's a N/A 6.2L estimated for 420-450 horses.
Unfortuanatley, the LS9 vette is estimated to have a price of over $100K this time around. But we'll see what happens. Rumor has it that there is a C6 mule car rolling around Michigan with a test-fitted LS9 in it.

I've also read that GM has sent out some preliminary block castings to some engine builders to do some testing, research, and development on them. On of the writer's asked about them and the guy replied that GM doesn't usually invest in preliminary stuff unless they are serious about making production parts out of them. One of the blocks came out to be a whopping 511ci with massive gargantuan heads to match it. Haven't read much more on them about that, but sounds interesting.

We are in agreeance on the fact that there are plenty of completely stock LT1's have gone high 13's. Mine did too. (A4 '94) The 94's were 275 horsepower from the factory. I believe that to be slightly under rated, just like LS1's. The LT1's typically were in the 240 rwhp range. There is no way in hell that the car is only losing 13% of it's horsepower through the drivetrain. I have seen plenty of LS1 cars in the 290 rwhp range, which again, if it's rated at 305 horsepower (w/out ram air) there is no way that there is only a 5% loss of horsepower through the drivetrain. Gotta love Chevy By the way, I personally haven't seen any stock LS1 dyno 315, that sounds quite a bit on the high end.

Couple things... 13% is actually very close for a 6 speed f body driveline loss. Second, my folks had a bone stock as it came from SLP 2000 SS awhile back. It made 310rwhp, and that's with no LS6 intake as on the 01s and 02s.

You snapped a pushrod, so you bought a new engine? And you replaced an LS1 with a crate LT1? Sounds good, but a little extreme and since its a crate LT1, did it come complete with optispark? I would get a new engine to avoid those things. But forced induction is cool, how much power you putting out?

no i had a 98 ss,this is a 1996 ws-6,not sure on power i need to take it to a dyno to get it dialed in.i am thinking around 390 to the wheels with proper tuning we will see though, the zz4 is a beefed up version of the lt-1,it has lighter stronger PM connecting rods,d-shaped exhaust ports. higher flowing aluminum heads, and 10/1 compression.and other things that claim give it 355hp and 400 tq,it did come complete with optispark,

    guess I am, lol

my bone stock 93 Formula M6, brand new, with around 1200 miles on it went a best of 13.82 @ 102.7 (I'll never forget those times as long as I live...first brand new car and first time at the track, racing)

my bone stock 95 Trans Am M6 last year went 13.9X @ 101.whoknows(lol, what a difference 12 years makes)

I made both passes with around 3/4 tank of gas and a buncha shit in the trunk...i lnike to know how I run when I'm loaded, cuz i can't strip my car on the street at the light

that being said...low 14s to high 13s is typical of the LT1s...
