    These can run low 11's in stock form with traction. I think any car for the MOST part can be set up fr drag racing. The Z06 is more of a roadcourse car but it is still damn impressive in the 1/4.

    If i cant munster something in the 10's then there will have to be something up with my car i will have everything the one above has plus i will have ported and polished heads, ported 102 fast intake, american racing headers, corsa exhaust, 3.73 gears not the stock 3.42, and 4l65e tranny with the new Nitto dr when they come out. if they dont hook i am going with a 18 in rim with mt's.

    Not saying it's bad, but to my understanding with serious power and hard lunches. The IRS, is not the best choice. As for that a solid rear axle is the best choice.

    Have you had a chance to read any of the recent write ups on the latest 540hp Ford Mustang GT? They can't get that car to hook up at all! A regular model Corvette smokes it in the 1/4, with the "live" axle, the Ford doesn't have a chance.
    I am well aware of the point you were making regarding IRS, and for SERIOUS 1/4 racing, it would be foolish, but it does do well as an all around (read cornering included, something else the Ford failed in) rear end.

    it helps in corner carving for sure, but the reason the mustang cant hook is because a) narrow tires and b) more wieght

    Lets look at the FACTS;
    Base model Corvette has from the factory, 285/35-19 in the rears and 245/40-18 in the front. 436hp-12.4 sec. 1/4 mile at 117mph. as tested by Car and Driver.
    The Ford Shelby GT500 has from the factory, 285/35-19 in the rears (sound familiar?) and 255/40-19 in the front. 540hp-12.7 sec. 1/4 mile at 115mph. as tested by Car and Driver.
    4.1 sec. 0 to 60mph in the Corvette
    4.5 sec. 0 to 60mph in the Mustang

    Just for fun, lets throw in the Grand Sport Corvette's numbers too.

    4.1 sec. 0 to 60mph....12.5 (a touch SLOWER with the wider 325/30-19 tires) in the 1/4 mile than the regular model Corvette. Also tested by Car and Driver

    As for weight...Lets look at the facts again.
    Grand Sport comes to the scale at 3338lbs.
    Ford Shelby GT500 tips the scales at 3897lbs.
    A differance of 559lbs. Oink oink

    Note: A 3800lb Nissan GTR will do the 1/4 mile with 480hp in 11.7 at 116.5mph beating everyone! Amazing what all wheel drive will do. As tested by Road and Track
