You dont need a written contract showing that he still owes.
There is such a thing called a verbal contract, which is legally binding...
Now of corse he can fight it and say he never agreed, never made any promise. Then its up to the judge who to believe. Go to Judge Judy and she would take your side in a heartbeat
Or go get it back and thank him for renting it for 14months... LOL
